The Who

Have you ever heard the saying, "you are exactly where you are supposed to be, right now"? I love refectly on this and how true it is in my life. Every moment I have lived and every experience I have been blessed to have has led me here: Wauwatosa, Wisconsin as a mother, wife, teacher, artist, entrepreneur, minimalist (trying anyway) lover of God, dark chocolate enthusiast..

So let me take you back to some of those moments that led me to this one.

I was born and rasied in Rockford, Illinois to the best parents ever. I'm the middle child and all the cliches that accompany that. My dad was an educator most of my life and my mom stayed home. Looking back I was so blessed to have so much time with both my parents. When I was 6 (ish) we spent a month road tripping across America really planting a love of travel in my heart. Christ was always the center of our home and we were raised to play outisde. I remember my sister and I played with our American Girl Dolls daily until I was 14. We would "hike" around our 1/2 acre lot in dresses and braids with dog hair taped to our feet pretending we were hobbits on a grand adventure. What wonderful fun we had!

But, though a child at heart, growing up is inevitable and I moved to Savannah Georgia where I attended SCAD as an Industrial Design major. I loved it. Every bit of it. I had the opportunity to study aboard in the South of France and traveled many European countries while I was there. I ran out of money completely two weeks before my flight home and really learned irreplaceable life lessons during my travels. I will always be a fan of hands-on, real-world learning opposed to reading about someone elses experiences.

After graduating with my BFA I (somehow) landed a job with IBM Public Sector. I created many design deliverables for large clients out of the Pentagon, Huntsville Alabama, and NYC. Despite how cool that all is, it wasnt for me and I knew it. I traded it all and moved to Milwaukee, Wisonsin for a fresh start. To be honest, I yearned for my people. Down to earth, neighborly neighbors. And that's who I found.

Jonny, my now husband, sat in my interview where I would eventually start working as an interior designer and sales rep for an office furniture company. We met and he fell in love. He didn't hesitate to show me and I came around pretty quickly, ha! We are happliy married and parents to 3 little rascals. My oldest was born on January 1st, 2020 and I was set to return to work the day the world shut down. It was a tremendous relief as I wanted to stay home with her longer. Eventually I became a teacher at a daycare and I brought all my kids to work with me. I spend my days playing outside, getting dirty, and running around. I'm so excited for this new challenge and creative outlet encouraging families everywhere to turn off the screens, (or get rid of them all together) head outside,  and preserve the wonder of childhood!

With Love,

Abbie
